Broomsticks, owls, dragons and hippogriffs are on their way to Universal Orlando Resort as the anticipated new land called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens this spring at the Islands of Adventure theme park.
Faithful to the compelling and wildly popular books by J.K. Rowling, the immersion environment within the area of the Lost Continent inside the Islands of Adventure will include familiar components, such as Hogsmeade station, Butterbeer and the Owlery. The signature attraction will be Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Although details have not been released by Universal, the Associated Press previously reported it will be a high-tech ride inside Hogswart castle that will take guests through movie scenes. Other rides include a twin high-speed coaster called Dragon Challenge–the existing Dueling Dragons ride was repurposed–and a family coaster, Flight of the Hippogriff, modeled after the Potter creature that’s half eagle and half horse.
