Stages St. Louis offers superb savings

With a singing carnivorous plant, a small-time gambler, gangsters and an uproarious wedding day, the 2009 season of Stages St. Louis will be an exciting one, and AAA members can enjoy the productions at a discount.

Stages’ 23rd season will begin on May 29 and run through the fall with three great productions. AAA members will receive a $99 subscription special for the three main stage productions, which represents 25 percent off the regular season tickets and 35 percent off single tickets.

One of the longest running shows in off-Broadway history, “Little Shop of Horrors” (May 29–June 28) has become a cult classic with an R&B singing carnivorous plant and a down-and-out floral assistant who feeds the plant’s growing appetite in exchange for fame.

A musical about people who love musicals, “The Drowsy Chaperone” (July 17–Aug. 16), earned the most Tony Awards of any musical on Broadway in 2006. The hilarious tale includes gangsters, mistaken identities and an uplifting ride to the rafters.

Featuring one of the greatest musical scores in the history of American theater, “Guys and Dolls” (Sept. 4–Oct. 4) is a bright and brassy story about love, marriage and all that a roll of the dice can bring you.

Stages performs in the intimate, 384-seat Robert G. Reim Theatre at the Kirkwood Civic Center, 111 South Geyer Road in St. Louis. For the AAA discount, present your membership card at the box office. For details, call (314) 821-2407 or visit www.stagesstlouis.org.
