What: World Premiere of “Lincoln”

Where: Lincoln State Park, Lincoln City
Experience the rough and tumble life of the Indiana boy who was to become our nation’s 16th president in a new showed simply called “Lincoln.” It will be shown in the Lincoln Amphitheatre, a covered, 1,500-seat amphitheatre that is located inside Lincoln State Park. The show will be presented nightly (except for Mondays) through Aug. 15. Ticket price includes an Amish family style meal, children’s pioneer games, artisans demonstrating period-style tasks, the Lincoln archives and free unlimited soft drinks, water and popcorn during our intermission. What: "The Luster of Silver"
When: through Sept. 13
Where: Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science
The work of 26 artists from 14 states and Canada will be presented in the museum's main gallery in "The Luster of Silver: Contemporary Metalpoint Drawings." The exhibition examines the lesser known but incredibly beautiful drawing technique of silverpoint, which involves drawing with a metal stylus. More generally called metalpoint, the technique was used in drawing from the late 14th century through the early 17th century, and it is enjoying a renaissance today. The museum is located at 411 S.E. Riverside Drive.

What: Newburgh 12th Annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration

Where: Old Lock and Dam Park, Newburgh
The spectacular fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. VIP seating is $5, and all money collected will help Historic Newburgh, Inc. pay for the fireworks. Bring your own lawn chair. The Newburgh Trolley will be running from Newburgh Elementary School and Newburgh Presbyterian Church down to the Old Lock and Dam Park from 6:30 p.m. until after the fireworks are over.

What: Traditional July 4th Celebration

Where: New Harmony
The 4th of July Celebration begins at 10 a.m. with patriotic speeches, music, and a reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Rapp Owen Granary. The festivities move to Maclure Park in New Harmony where the community picnic and decorated golf cart parade will begin at 11 a.m. Music will be provided by the Red Bank Reunion Band. The picnic will have hot dogs, hamburgers, bratwurst, cobbler and ice cream for sale. Games and free root beer will be available for everyone.

Angel Mounds’ annual Bluegrass and Barbecue concert, part of the Music at the Mounds concert series, returns for its 5th year. The area’s best bluegrass artists will perform throughout the afternoon and keep on pickin’ into the night. Barbecue plates, as well as additional food and beverages, will be available for purchase. Coolers are permitted after inspection. No alcohol is permitted on the grounds. Visitors should bring their own seating to this family-friendly occasion, which will be moved indoors in the event of rain.

What: The 30th Annual Indian Artifacts Show
When: Aug. 1–2
Where: The Centre, Evansville
The 30th Annual Indian Artifacts show at the Centre, 715 Locust St., will feature arrowheads, axes, pottery, beads, moccasins, rugs, baskets, jewelry, frames, modern flint and artwork. The show also attracts collectors and fans of prehistoric relics, dinosaur bones, sharks' teeth and other ancient artifacts from as far away as France and Belgium. Appraisals and Authenticating is available and a panel of experts will judge artifacts for $20 each. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $6 per day.

Few artifacts are as mysterious and captivating as Egyptian mummies, and museum guests will have a chance to meet one this Fall. “The Child Mummy” exhibit is being brought to Evansville under a special arrangement with the St. Louis Science Center. The mummy is a boy who died at about seven to eight months old and who probably lived during the period of 40 BC to 130 AD.
