AAA & The Environment
Public Policy
AAA's 45 million members reflect the diversity in the public at large and mirror the social concerns of the general public in the United States and Canada. AAA believes the right to travel carries with it the responsibility to use our natural resources wisely and to preserve and enhance the environment for the enjoyment of future generations.

Through ongoing dialogue with members, state legislators and members of Congress, AAA supports programs and legislation to improve the quality of our environment. For example, AAA supports:

  • Highway Improvements that enable communities to select solutions that best address traffic congestion and safety issues in their areas.
  • Public Transportation/Mass Transit programs that support the needs of communities and provide a balanced approach to traffic congestion and urban sprawl.
  • Safety Improvements that reduce deaths and injuries for motorists as well as pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • The Clean Air Act to reduce emissions from all sources of pollution -- mobile sources such as cars and trucks, and stationary sources such as utilities.
  • Identifying and protecting Scenic Landscapes along our nation's roadways.
