


1950 - AAA opened offices in both Paris and Rome.







1956 - AAA was largely responsible for the passing of the 1956 Federal-aid Highway Act, the most ambitious public works program in the nation's history. It followed on the (U.S.) President's proposal to spend $50 billion on a 10-year highway construction program, the basis for the establishment of the Highway Trust Fund.

1952 - U.S. Post Office issued commemorative AAA stamp in honor of AAA's 50th anniversary.
- World driving treaty came into effect in April 1952. U.S. State Dept. authorized AAA to issue international driving permits and other documents to members and the general public.
- AAA introduces "Safest Route to School" program to encourage parents and children to use safe pedestrian habits on their way to school.
